We assume roughly 3 monetisable DM moments per subscriber every month: pay-to-unlock messages, custom requests, upsell windows. Multiply that by your unlock rate and your average PPV price, and you get the revenue your inbox is capable of producing at full attention.
Your miss rate is the share of that potential nobody actually collects, DMs answered too late, priced wrong, or never followed up. That gap is what's leaking. The recovery figure assumes a staffed team closes about 70% of it, not all of it. Some fans are genuinely gone by the time anyone reaches them.

What counts as PPV leakage?
Money you already earned the right to collect: a fan who unlocked before, or opened a DM with buying intent. Nobody collected it because they replied too late, priced it wrong, or never followed up before he cooled off.
What's a realistic PPV unlock rate?
For a staffed, attentive account, somewhere between 20% and 30% is a believable working number. Solo creators answering between everything else in their day usually sit well under that, and that gap is exactly what this calculator measures.
Why only 70% recovery, not 100%?
Because part of that leak is already gone by the time anyone touches the inbox again, a fan who moved on, a moment that passed. We'd rather quote you the number a team can actually close than one that only works on a slide deck.
